Please contact me if you cannot find an answer to your question.
In our first session, we will discuss our therapy agreement, and I will ask you a few questions so I can understand why you’ve decided to have counselling. I will also explain a little more about how we could work together.
I practise using the person-centred approach. I will provide a safe, compassionate, and confidential space so you can feel comfortable exploring your feelings and experiences with me. It’s entirely up to you what you’d like to bring to each session. Together, we can work through and process anything you bring to the session at a pace that feels right for you. Hopefully, therapy will help you feel valued, accepted, and more in touch with yourself.
Person-centred counselling provides the individual with the opportunity to have a deep and meaningful relationship based on genuine warmth, regard, and acceptance. I believe that individuals have the capacity to grow towards fulfilling their potential, and they are the experts in their own lives. I will therefore not give direct advice or offer solutions. I will work with you to support you in understanding yourself and your personal experiences more fully, with greater self-awareness and trust in yourself.

Everything we talk about will be confidential, apart from a few exceptions, which I’ve listed below. I would always speak to you before breaking confidentiality.
As a practising therapist, I’m required to have regular supervision with another supervisor. I may need to discuss some aspects of our sessions with my supervisor, but I would share limited details, and you would be kept anonymous.
If you are under 18 years old, the rules around confidentiality are different, and I will talk with you about this before we start to work together.
